Two New User-Led Support Groups!

More fantastic news for 2019 - Two new User-Led Support Groups for people experiencing hoarding tendencies or have severe clutter issues are being launched.

Following the positive outcomes achieved through our Colchester and Tendring User Led group over the previous 15 months now funded by Anglian Community Trust until January 2020, we are pleased to announce that Tudor Trust have awarded Your Living Room grant funding for two years to support two additional User-led Support Groups based in Manningtree and Chelmsford.

The Manningtree group will commence on Monday 11th March between 5pm and 7.30pm and will be located in Foundry Court, Community Centre in Manningtree, CO11 1EJ 

(the group will be run on the second Monday of each month and places are limited to 12 clients per session)

This user-led facility offers support for clients and non-clients in need.

Fantastic news for 2019!

Anglian Community Trust have kindly granted Your Living Room CIC another years part funding and with monies we raise through our concession at Manningtree Emporium in Manningtree, we are now able to extend this free service for another year! The user-led group offers support for clients and people in need with a Hoarding Disorder in the Colchester and Tendring area. Thank you! Contact 07710709632 for more information.


Mental Health First Aid

Some of the Your Living Room team attending the 2 day Mental Health First Aid Course at Moulsham Mill in Chelmsford funded by Comic Relief.

Mental Health First Aid provides:

  • An in depth understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect wellbeing 

  • Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues

  • Confidence to step in, reassure and support a person in distress

  • Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening

  • Knowledge to help someone recover their health by guiding them to further support - whether that’s self-help resources, through their employer, the NHS, or a mix of support

The WIGs is part of the Essex Federation of Women's Institutes, a registered charity, and as such is a not for profit organisation.

This branch have kindly raised £96.75 in donations from the sale of some our unwanted ‘craft items’. Thank you Sian!

The revenue will go towards running costs of our Monthly User-led Forum supporting clients with a Hoarding Disorder or severe clutter issues.

Your Living Room CIC is delighted to announce they have received a donation via the Essex Community Foundation. These much needed funds will support our 2018-2019 campaign to raise awareness of the complex issue of Hoarding Disorder countywide.

We are using the funds to promote our service through social media, posters sited in GP surgeries and information banners designed as displayed at community venues at hotspot locations throughout Essex.

Today is Social Enterprise Day 2018!

SEUK is running a #WhoKnew campaign and we want you to get involved to raise awareness about Your Living Room CIC and Hoarding Disorder! 

#WhoKnew is a digital campaign designed to give social enterprises the chance to shout out about the good work they're doing and the difference they're making in their communities and beyond. The campaign is all about highlighting the diversity in the sector and is an opportunity for all social enterprises to take part in a public facing campaign. It is also a chance for organisations supporting the social enterprise movement to raise the profile of their own work, whether as market-builders, investors or champions of the sector.

We will be sharing our #Whoknew  ab out Your Living Room CIC on Twitter and Facebook on Thursday 15th November using #WhoKnew and #SocialEnterpriseDay.


Your Living Room will be closed from 5pm Friday  21st December and will reopen later this year on Wednesday 

9th January 2019 due to a staff training course being held on the 7th and 8th January 2019.

DON WINS Volunteer of the Year 2018!



Congratulations to Don who scoops the Volunteer of the Year 2018 by The Marvels of Mid Essex Awards presented by NHS Mid Essex CCG. Don has volunteered in excess of 300 hours at Your Living Room CIC. 🏆🎉 #MOMA18 #NHS70
Don has been recognised for the amazing commitment and volunteer hours he has given to Your Living Room since May 2017. His dedication is truly inspirational and we are proud he has received this award.

Harry and Diane, Directors of Your Living Room are very proud that Don has been recognised for his relentless support and commitment to the organisation. We encourage and embrace a user-led service and Don is an important part of this process and the future of Your Living Room CIC.


Your Living Room at The Manningtree Emporium!

Your living Room CIC is pleased to announce they have a concession at the new antiques & vintage place, Manningtree Emporium

The income raised from our sales is being used as funding towards the running of the User-led Support Group, which is held monthly for clients with a hoarding disorder. The group meets at our offices in Layer-de-la-Haye every month between 5-7.30pm.

The venue is family friendly, dog friendly and wheelchair access. 10am to 5pm on Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sun & Mon. 15/16 Jubilee End, Manningtree.

HELPING HIDDEN NEEDS - Your Living Room CIC is featured in Essex Life Magazine - July 2018 edition as part of the editorial featuring the Essex Community Foundation Spring Reception, which was held in the amazing setting of Layer Marney Towers. Our volunteer/ambassador 'Philip', Co-director Harry Beer and myself were privileged to attend the event and share our story about how we provide specialist support people for people with hoarding disorder and the positive social impact we have made as an organisation.

Around 130 invited guests were at Layer Marney Tower for Essex Community Foundation's annual Spring Reception.
Your Living Room were grateful for this opportunity to speak about the long-term support that they offer to people living with this widely misunderstood condition.

Your Living Room's Client/Volunteer 'Philip' spoke about his personal experience of hoarding and how this service has helped him to change his life.


Your Living Room CIC nominated for High Sheriffs Award!

Your Living Room is extremely grateful to have been nominated for a High Sheriffs Award for 2018 hosted by Essex Community Foundation at Hyland's House last night.
