Your Living Room CIC nominated for High Sheriffs Award!

Your Living Room is extremely grateful to have been nominated for a High Sheriffs Award for 2018 hosted by Essex Community Foundation at Hyland's House last night. (Pictured receiving the award, volunteer Dean Welham and Director Diane Boyd ) This award recognises the support and aftercare we provide for this extremely vulnerable client group with severe hoarding or clutter issues.
This recognition is invaluable in helping us as an organisation to raise awareness of hoarding disorder and make our service accessible to anyone in need. Thank you from Harry, Dan and Diane ❤️

Anglian Community Trust funds new User-led forum for people with hoarding disorder.

ACT agrees the virement of funds originally awarded in 2016 to Your Living Room.

…”After consultation and feedback from our clients,  a User-led forum was clearly identified as a much needed service”…. The group will form part of our ‘aftercare’  service helping clients reduce the possibility of relapsing and also provide potential clients the opportunity and courage to come and be part of a support network of like-minded people finding out about our person-centred decluttering service. (Funds were originally ring fenced for a mobile unit)

This free forum will be held at Your Living Room head office and training centre in Layer-de-la-Haye on the first Monday of every month between 5-7pm. The next meeting will be on Monday 6th November. For more information contact Harry Beer on 07710709635.

Your Living Room supports many worthwhile projects and charities by donating unwanted items that have been recycled through our decluttering.

The Jacaranda Book Project in Malawi is one of these amazing projects! Supporting young people and families in need of education, clothing, support, and fundamental items. We were happy to help with the items seen being presented by co-director Diane Boyd to Terry who will be travelling to the project in September 2017 to distribute to their community.

Public Voices Shaping Health Research

Your Living Room was delighted to be asked to have a stand at the Public Involvement Forum Event in Ely on the 7th June 'Public Voices Shaping Health Research' regarding the importance of patient and public involvement in health research. This was a welcome opportunity for us to promote our specialist service and raise awareness of the importance of a future research project into the causes and triggers of hoarding.

Co-Director Harry Beer attended the Equal Partners in Research Workshop in Cambridge on the 28th June as follow on from this event, providing an opportunity to share our unique experiences to build public/professional collaboration.
