Your Living Room CIC, an Essex based person-centred decluttering service, is delighted to have won the Innovation category at the 2016 Who Will Care Awards.

Since it began operating in March 2015, Your Living Room has helped dozens of people across Essex whose lives or well-being are affected by mess, clutter or hoarding disorder. The business is a Community Interest Company which means it’s run not-for-profit to address a need in society.

Essex County Councils ‘ Who Will Care Award Scheme’ organised by Castle Point Association of Voluntary Services (CAVS), was set up to honour volunteers, business or charitable organisations that have made an impact and improved the lives of others.  The Innovation category recognises innovation in developing a service/project to support the community.

Your Living Room co-director, Danny Gatehouse said, “This award means a great deal to us. Around 5 percent of the population are affected by hoarding and issues around mess and clutter. The problem is now a recognised mental health disorder yet there is very little support and practical help available. We are working across Essex supporting people in their homes, and this award gives us a great boost and show of confidence for which we are very grateful indeed.”

Your Living Room CIC has a team of trained staff and accepts referrals from agencies such as housing associations, councils and social care as well as individuals who need help with clutter.
