WHAT HAPPENS TO THE THINGS WE DECLUTTER?

Some of our clients choose to donate unwanted possession as part of their acceptance of the emotional process of decluttering.

Your Living Room provides specialist person-centred support to declutter your home and we also facilitate the redistribution of donated items to charities and good causes and some donated items will be sold to help support the work that we do.

Here are some examples of organisations our clients have helped support….

Christmas 2017:

Rosemary Gissler-Weber on behalf of St John the Baptist Church helping us to distribute to Home-start in Colchester again for families in need.

Colchester Home-start offers a family mentoring support service, taking the time to visit each family at home, providing practical and emotional assistance to support positive changes to take place.

Home-Start Colchester a small local independent charity that works closely in the local community at grass roots level. This enables the scheme to respond to local needs in a targeted way. Our support in the family home and our understanding of our client group, children and families, enables us to identify pockets of unmet need and find innovative solutions to offering support, while engaging and galvanising local communities and helping to co-ordinate activities of support across a range of services.

The Jacaranda Foundation provides life-changing education and care to some of the world’s most vulnerable children in Malawi. Knowing that extended families and the community are the best support for orphans and vulnerable children, we also have initiatives to strengthen our students’ families and the surrounding community.

Christmas 2017:

What great fun this week at Your Living Room CIC sorting out all the new toys for us to donate to families in need far and wide for Christmas! Our dear friend Terry Martin is soon off to Malawi to visit the Jacaranda Book Project again, who we supported back in September this year. These adorable little Doggie rucksacks are going with him to Malawi alongside some much-needed new underwear for the young girls there which helps protect them against abuse.

Our third recipient is Rosemary Gissler-Weber on behalf of St John the Baptist Church helping us to distribute to Homestart in Colchester again for families in need.
